Six Flags Entertainment Corporation is set to observe Maintenance Appreciation Week July 29 to August 4, 2024. To celebrate the hard work of this team, Carowinds is shining a spotlight on our close-knit team of maintenance associates who work tirelessly to ensure the park runs smoothly.
Inside Look at Carowinds' Maintenance Department
Carowinds' maintenance department is comprised of many disciplines. Carpenters, painters, plumbers, HVAC technicians, electrical technicians, landscapers, and ride mechanics are just a few roles filled by associates who are skilled at their trade. Carowinds' maintenance team works around the clock to ensure the park is in mint condition before opening to guests each morning. Their expertise ensures a smooth operation and nonstop fun.
Associate Spotlights
To give a closer look at the faces behind the scenes, two maintenance associates share some insight into their experience and what makes Carowinds such a special place to work.
Daryl McNeill
Daryl McNeill joined Carowinds' maintenance team seven years ago, in 2017. Currently, McNeill works as a ride mechanic. He cherishes seeing the smiles on guests’ faces when they experience the thrill of each ride he has a hand in maintaining.
Porter Fudge
Porter Fudge is an irrigation technician with three years of service at Carowinds. His favorite thing about his job is the comradery within the department. Fudge is delighted by the teamwork and willingness to lend a helping hand among associates. One of Porter’s favorite memories at Carowinds centers around overcoming his fear of heights. One morning, he accompanied a ride mechanic at Drop Tower, and was able to appreciate the park from a new, and higher, point of view.
