Weather Guidelines for Rides and Attractions

The safety and security of our guests and associates is Carowinds' top priority. This statement guides many aspects of Carowinds’ operations, including the standard by which our rides and attractions are operated and maintained.

While we work hard to provide the best experience possible, some attractions may not always be operational due to severe or inclement weather. During these times Carowinds’ invites guests to visit indoor attractions, retail locations, or restaurants. Guests can find the latest information on attraction and park closures, and other impacts from severe or inclement weather at Carowinds.com, as well as on the Carowinds-owned social media accounts.

Some open-air events and dining offerings may be rescheduled or cancelled in the event of severe or inclement weather. Carolina Harbor Waterpark, our special events and experiences, and our attractions are also subject to rehabilitation, seasonal and weather closures. To learn about any unplanned closures or long-term refurbishments, please check the Scheduled Ride Closures page on our website or mobile app.

Air temperature may impact the operation of rides and attractions. Carowinds adheres to the following guidelines for the air temperature at which each ride or attraction may close:

If air temperatures drop below 40 degrees, additional attractions will be subject to closure. Air temperature, as monitored by Carowinds’ ride operations, may vary by temperature-measuring device.
