Parents' Guide to Tricks and Treats at Carowinds

Celebrate fall in the Carolinas with three exciting events at Carowinds: Oktoberfest, Tricks and Treats, and SCarowinds. Each offers a unique experience for families and thrill-seekers alike.
Tricks and Treats is a family-friendly fall festival, blending the excitement of Halloween with festive fun. Guests of all ages can enjoy interactive activities and whimsical live entertainment. Join the not-so-spooky adventures every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, now through October 27.
Games and Activities
- Trick-or-Treat Trail: Children can follow the Trick-or-Treat Trail and visit themed stations to collect candy and other goodies. Non-candy options and crafts are also available. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Trail stops are in Blue Ridge Junction, Carousel Park, and Crossroads.
- Patch’s Pumpkin Patch: Little ones can pick a pumpkin and decorate it to create the cutest, wackiest, or spookiest pumpkin in the park! Limit to one pumpkin per child. This activity is near Gyro Force in Aeronautica Landing.
- Mask Makers Mash: Get creative at the Mask Makers Mash, where children can craft their Halloween masks to complete their costumes. Located in the Crossroads area, near Bailey’s Barnyard.
- SkeleTONS of Fun Midway Games: Enjoy a variety of fun midway games where everyone’s a winner! Games are set up in the Thunder Road area, near Harmony Hall.
- Phantom Foam Pit: Children can dive into a magical foam-filled adventure in this enchanting foam pit. Located in Carousel Park, near Slingshot.
Shows and Experiences
- Costume Contest: Children are invited to show off their best Halloween costumes and parade to the stage for a chance to win prizes in categories like "most original," "cutest," and "scariest." Held in the County Fair area, near Do-Si-Do.
- The Spectral Sisters: This jazzy New Orleans-inspired trio will have you tapping your feet and dancing along to their lively tunes. Located in Carousel Park.
- BeanBoozled Challenge: Only the brave will survive this challenge! Spin the Wheel of Beans and see who can stomach the wackiest candy flavors. Located in Aeronautica Landing.
- Skelebration! Dance Party: Join DJ Knuckles for a bone-rattling dance party featuring spooky tunes and interactive games with chances to win prizes. Located in Blue Ridge Junction, near Mountain Gliders.
Tricks and Treats Parade
Don't miss this colorful celebration of Halloween featuring costumed characters, vibrant floats, and lively music. The parade starts at 6:00 PM at the Carolina Harbor Waterpark entrance and winds through County Fair, Thrill Zone, and Carousel Park. There will be stops along the way, allowing families to join the fun and showcase their dance moves.
Festive Food and Beverage Offerings
Carowinds' culinary team has crafted a limited-time menu featuring specialty food and beverage options showcasing the flavors of fall. Of course, these offerings are complete with some kid-friendly favorites:
- Zombie Brain Funnel Cake: Red velvet funnel cake topped with green apple filling and gummy worms. Available at Funnel Cake Emporium and World’s Greatest Funnel Cakes.
- Fried Dino Egg: Bite-sized deviled eggs breaded and deep-fried, topped with bacon and green onions. Available at Terminal A.
- Vampire’s Kiss Blood Bag: An immortal combination of lemonade, cherry syrup, vanilla, and haunting edible glitter to sink your teeth into
- Pixie Potion Blood Bag: Lemonade infused with blue raspberry and green apple, shimmering with edible glitter.

This year, Carowinds has made it easier than ever to enjoy all the fall festivities. New in 2024, SCarowinds is no longer a separately ticketed event! Guests attending the daytime Tricks and Treats and Oktoberfest activities can seamlessly transition into a fright-filled night with SCarowinds, without leaving the park. Please note, that SCarowinds is recommended for guests aged 13 and up due to the event's intensity.
