Foodie's Guide to Fall at Carowinds

A familiar chill descends upon Carowinds when SCarowinds returns this fall with all-new scares, including the debut of the new Procession of Nightmares. SCarowinds returns for select terrifying nights from Friday, September 15 to Sunday, October 29.

Specialized foods and specialty adult beverages have been created by our executive chef, John Loukas, and his culinary teams to further enhance the already immersive experience. New and limited-time menu offerings showcase the flavors of fall, and the whimsy of the spooky season.

The Great Pumpkin Fest also occurs from Saturday, September 16, to Sunday, October 29, and attendees will encounter family-friendly and event-exclusive entertainment, celebrate the season alongside the PEANUTS Gang.

Bewitching Bites

Savory, seasonal items available at Carowinds include hearty meals for those with a monstrous appetite and scrumptious snacks for ghosts and ghouls. Indulge your sweet tooth, or your vampire fangs, as well as sweet treats available throughout the park.

Blue Ridge Country Kitchen
  • Spicy Nashville Chicken & Waffles – Chicken tenders tossed in Nashville hot sauce and served over a pearl sugar waffle.

Blue Ridge Fixin’s
  • Cotton Candy Turkey Leg – Smoked turkey leg wrapped with cotton candy to order.
Burrito Café
  • Bloody Mary Chimichangas – New York style cheesecake wrapped and warmed in a flour tortilla and topped with a bloody berry drizzle and powdered sugar.
  • Walking Tacos - Choice of Fritos® or Doritos® loaded with your favorite choice of toppings.

Fair Fries
  • Apokries Greek Fries – Fresh-cut fries topped with beef, lamb gyro meat, Greek pico de gallo (cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, Kalamata olives), tzatziki sauce and feta cheese.
  • La Llorona Fries – Fresh-cut fries topped with al pastor pork, charred pineapple, pickled red onions, jalapenos, and cilantro lime crema.
Funnel Cake Emporium
  • Trick-Oreo-Treat Funnel Cake – Chocolate funnel cake sandwich filled with sweet cream and topped with chocolate fudge and Oreo® pieces.

Leonardo's Hometown Italian Food
  • Oktoberfest Pizza – Flatbread with smoked kielbasa, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, cheddar cheese and caraway seeds.
Terminal A
  • Buffalo Brains Bites – Fried cauliflower tossed in buffalo sauce.
  • Fear the Reaper Chicken Dip – Spicy buffalo chicken dip garnished with blue cheese crumbles and served with fried pita chips.

Screaming Shakes

Seasonal offerings at Shake Central are to die for. Enjoy these sweet treats during both SCarowinds and The Great Pumpkin Fest.

  • Swamp Juice Chiller – Lemon Dole® soft serve mixed with Grape Fanta® and topped with gummy worms.
  • Scary Berry Lemonade Chiller – Blend of Berry Dole® soft serve and Minute Maid® lemonade topped with a bloody berry drizzle.
  • Screamsicle Shake – Vanilla ice cream and Orange Dole® soft serve topped with whipped cream and a Hershey’s® Orange Blossom® Bar.

Sinister Sips

Guests 21 years of age and older can enjoy a multitude of limited-time adult beverages to stir up their spirits this fall during both SCarowinds and The Great Pumpkin Fest events.

Five specialty cocktails are available at the Blue Ridge Bar and the Harmony Hall Bar during SCarowinds and The Great Pumpkin Fest.

  • I Vant to Drink Your Blood – Vodka, peach schnapps, and Minute Maid® lemonade served with a strawberry daiquiri syringe.
  • Red Rum Runner – Classic rum punch garnished with a bloody fruit wedge. 
  • Toxic Waste – Midori®, Minute Maid® lemonade, and vodka.
  • Bloody Eyeball Sangria – Red wine, rum, cherry juice, blueberry, and cherry preserve-stuffed lychee.
  • Bobbin’ For Apples – Sugarlands Appalachian Apple Pie Moonshine, sour apple liqueur, granny smith apple syrup, and apple cider.

Bob Lobotomy’s Harlequin Club Elixirs

Step right up! The Harlequin Club has now set foot in the once-charming County Fair. Enjoy sinister sips from ringmaster Bob Lobotomy while you enter the realm of a dark and twisted traveling troupe.

Each cocktail is served with Bob’s mind erasing elixir for $15.99. Guests can request their beverage be tamed (non-alcoholic) for $13.99.

Terminal A

The line-up of signature, hand-crafted cocktails at Terminal A has received a terrifying twist for the fall season. Each cocktail is served in a souvenir Aeronautica Landing cup.

  • What Lies Beneath – Vodka, blue curaçao, lemon, pineapple, orgeat syrup, and grenadine.
  • Terminal A Old Fashioned – Terminal A Edition Woodford Reserve®, apple butter, and chocolate bitters.
  • Lost Souls – Mezcal, Cointreau®, lime, agave, and pomegranate.
  • Ectoplasm – Midori®, vodka, lemon, lime, and simple syrup.
  • Vampire’s Kiss – Pisco, lime, and hibiscus syrup.
  • Blackberry Bog Juice – Rum, blackberry moonshine, blackberry syrup, and lemon.

Blood Bags

Deliciously spooky Halloween “blood bag” cocktails are available as various bar locations throughout Carowinds this fall.

  • A+ - Vodka, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, and grenadine.
  • B- - Red wine infused with other fruit flavors.
  • Zombie Juice – Vodka, granny smith apple syrup, pineapple juice, and lemonade.
  • Pixie Potion – Lemonade mocktail infused with blue raspberry and green apple.
