Frequently Asked Questions

What are the check-in and check-out times?

For campsites, check-in is after 1 p.m. and check-out is by 12 noon. For cabins and Great Wilderness Lodge, check-in is after 4 p.m. and check-out is by 11 a.m.

Can I check-in/out after office hours?

Guests can check-in and out before or after hours. In order to so, payment must be made via the night box located at the Trading Post or on the morning following after-hours check-in at the check-in desk.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are allowed on campgrounds but are not permitted in cabins. There are pet waste stations throughout the campground. 

Are tent pads available?

Only RV stations with full hookups and cabins are currently available.

What are your cancellation policies?

We require notice of cancelation at least 72 hours prior to your scheduled date of arrival for a partial refund. Your partial refund will be your deposit minus a $25 cancelation fee. If you cancel less than 72 hours prior to your scheduled date of arrival, the amount of the first night room/site charge plus tax will be forfeited.

Can I bring my own fire pit?

Guests can bring their own fire pits, but no ground fires are permitted.

Is there transportation to the park?

Shuttle service from Camp Wilderness to Carowinds is temporarily unavailable.

Do you have a pool and/or playground?

There is a swimming pool open select days from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There is no playground on-site, but our Trading Post does offer fun family activities such as a pool table, shuffleboard, and cornhole game.

Do you offer long-term camping?

Guests may stay at the campground for a maximum of 14 days.
