Have you ever wanted to chat with our rides or operational staff to find out how much planning, time and manpower it takes to debut a new ride in the park? Here’s your chance to get a sneak peek at what really goes on before the gates open for the season.

After raising more than $40,000 in 2011, Carowinds and the Charlotte Affiliate of Susan G. Komen For The Cure™ are teaming up again to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

• Plethora of B-roll and photo opportunities will be available
The skyline of Carowinds lights up each evening beginning May 26 with Snoopy’s Starlight Spectacular, a million dollar nighttime walk-through light and sound experience featuring Snoopy and the rest of the PEANUTS™ gang!

• Great “green” story-as the attraction features a diverse mixture of low-energy and high-efficiency LED lighting

The skies above Carowinds light up each evening beginning July 1 with Carowinds’ stunning firework show, Nights of Fire.

Each year Carowinds donates hundreds of thousands of dollars to area non-profit, civic and school organizations. In 2011, the thrill capital of the Southeast donated more than $410,000 in in-kind donations through our work with various non-profit organizations. There are plenty of opportunities for you to cover this great topic!

Each year, Carowinds landscaping crews plant more than 35,000 flowers across the thrill capital of the Southeast. Most of those flowers are grown from seeds, something almost unheard of in the amusement park industry. Get an inside look at Carowinds’ greenhouse and chat with staffers who spend hours each day spreading more than 2,000 gallons of well-water to keep the flowers fresh!

From theme parks to museums, there’s always a new sight, ride and attraction here in the Queen City. Here’s a taste of what’s new in 2012- WindSeeker, a 301-foot-tall swing ride, two new live shows, the extension of our 10pm closes and Nights of Fire fireworks display at Carowinds. Discovery Place in Charlotte is giving visitors a close- up look at some rare artifacts during Mummies of the World, the largest exhibition of mummies and related artifacts ever assembled. The Mint Museum is giving guests something to cheer about as they present Celebrating Queen Charlotte’s Coronation, and guests can test their fear of heights by signing up for The Canopy Tour-the newest way to experience the US National Whitewater Center.
