Seminar at 10 AM in Harmony Hall
Wind in our hair and lumps in our stomachs as we zip around hairpin curves. That feeling of weightlessness when we plunge down into crazy-fast freefalls. We know the effects of Carowinds’ epic thrill rides, but how do they work, and what makes them so AMAZING? Engineering is everywhere you look at Carowinds, from world-class roller coasters to waterpark rides and even where guests are admitted to the park.
“Engineering The Impossible”
In this talk, Adam Sandy, Roller Coaster Sales & Marketing Director at Zamperla, will discuss how the company approaches custom projects and will talk to students about the lifecycle of a roller coaster. He will focus on three unique projects the company has worked on and discuss:
- How the design process starts (conversations with Theme Parks about their needs)
- Integrated and custom designs (type of ride, speed, features, space, location challenges)
- Ongoing maintenance
- Next-Generation Vehicles
- How ride engineering affects the marketing and attendance at the Parks
- $35 per person (park admission), 1 complimentary admission ticket for every 15 purchased*
- *Please note, season passholder tickets do not count toward the 1:15 complimentary ticket ratio.
Our Engineering Day coaster contest is back! Please click the link below to view the contest guidelines and download the submission form. This engineering project for students encourages teams to submit the roller coaster designs for a chance to win $500 for your school.
