Carowinds Honored in Amusement Today's Annual Golden Ticket Awards
Charlotte, N.C. (September 11, 2023)—Carowinds, the region’s premier amusement park, garnered two distinctions at the annual Golden Ticket Awards by Amusement Today, announced over the weekend.
Fury 325, Carowinds' renowned giga coaster, clinched its seventh title as "Best Steel Coaster” in the world. Noted as the tallest, fastest, and longest giga coaster in North American rankings, Fury 325 was an immediate favorite, nabbing the "Best New Ride" distinction by Amusement Today in its 2015 inaugural year. Boasting the title of North America's longest steel coaster, it reaches heights of 325 feet (99m); it is also the tallest giga coaster in the United States.
In addition to this honor, Carowinds' all-new immersive aviation-themed area, Aeronautica Landing, garnered the Turnstile Award. Aeronautica Landing, which opened earlier this year, features two new culinary experiences and five new rides, as well as a re-theming of an existing ride for a total of six rides. Amusement Today publisher Gary Slade personally selects the Turnstile Award recipient.
The 25th annual Golden Ticket Awards, held in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., celebrates excellence in the amusement park industry. Amusement Today, an Arlington, Texas-based publication focusing on amusement and water park trends, conducts and tabulates the results of a global survey.
Additional noteworthy Carowinds placements in the Golden Ticket Awards include:
- Best Kids Area: No. 5
- Best Show: No. 5 (tie) for Retrospect
