April 4, 2023

On Friday, April 7, the all-new Aeronautica Landing will take off at Carowinds. In the immersive aviation themed-area, families can explore, discover, and unwind together while enjoying two new culinary experiences and five new rides as well as a re-theming of an existing ride, for a total of six rides.

Rides and Attractions

Air Racers

Guests can hop in a ride vehicle of their choice to race and roll through the obstacles recreated from heroic tales of ace pilots high in the Carolina sky. Air Racers delivers an exciting ride combined with impressive visuals.

Guests must be 48 inches tall to ride.

The Airwalker

Strap yourself onto the wing of The Airwalker and soar over the dunes of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Guests will discover the adrenaline rush of airborne acrobatics in this ride’s whirling and twirling moves.

Guests must be 48 inches tall to ride alone, or 42 inches tall to ride with a supervising companion.

Gear Spin

What if a ginormous, red-hot propulsion engine –normally used to thrust an aircraft through the atmosphere- was outfitted with seats for riders? The engine’s extreme power and force creates a speeding, spinning adventure reserved only for the bravest of riders.

Guests must be 48 inches tall to ride alone, or 42 inches tall to ride with a supervising companion.

Gyro Force

Aviation experts need guests’ help to test the limits of an experimental aircraft engine. New lift and propulsion technologies simulated in this rotating ride make planes faster, but ‘unstable.’ Guests will be thrilled to put this thrill machine to the test. Gyro Force will board riders in the late spring of 2023.

Guests must be 42 inches tall to ride or accompanied by a supervising companion.

Hover & Dodge

Previously known as Dodg’ems, Carowinds bumper cars attraction has been rethemed for a brand new ride experience. In Aeronautica Landing’s futuristic version of bumper cars, these hot rods are transformed into hovercrafts that are prone to ‘malfunction’ and bump into each other for a high-larious time.

Guests must be 48 inches tall to ride alone, or 42 inches tall to ride with a supervising companion.

New Dining Experiences

Terminal A

Modeled after high-end and exclusive sky clubs, the new Terminal A restaurant and bar offers top-tier service, delicious eats, and signature cocktails on a stunning patio. The inside of the restaurant features numerous in-theme elements, including retro flight jackets.

From savory to sweet, the menu at Terminal A features a plethora of small plates, and a few heartier options. Most items are meant to be shared with your flight crew.

Frequent Fryers

Fry Shack has been rethemed as Frequent Fryers, the quick service dining location in Aeronautica Landing. Here, guests can enjoy fried favorites, including chicken, shrimp and “chips.”

Aeronautica Landing Game Zone

The game zone at Aeronautica Landing, located between Hover & Dodge and Gyro Force, is complete with four new midway games (including Balloon Busters, Hydro Plane Rally and Sky High Wire Walk), an innovative acrobatic challenge, and the re-themed classic basketball challenge, Air Shot.

Balloon Busters

Balloon Busters is a traditional dart game where guests try to pop as many balloons as possible. This game is located directly in front of Gyro Force.

Hydro Plane Rally

Hydro Plane Rally is a racing game where guests will shoot water guns to determine the speed of their individual racing plane.

Sky High Wire Walk

Sky High Wire Walk is a new game concept at Carowinds that will test the balance of players on a tightrope-like course.

Air Shot

Air Shot is like other classice three-point challenge basketball games located throughout Carowinds, with an aviation-inspired twist.

Holding Pattern

Holding Pattern is a familiar carnival game that challenges guests’ strength by recording how long they can hang from a suspended bar.

Guests can experience Aeronautica Landing when the new themed-area opens on Friday, April 7. 2023 Silver Season Passes are available and include unlimited summer and fall daytime visits, free season-long parking, unlimited visits for Carolina Harbor Waterpark, admission into seasonal events Grand Carnivale, and The Great Pumpkin Fest, discounts on meals and merchandise, and Bring-A-Friend discount offers.
