March Construction Update for Aeronautica Landing at Carowinds
Aeronautica Landing, located at Carowinds, nears the end of construction in the former Crossroads area. This new themed area will introduce five new attractions and one rethemed ride to Carowinds and invites guests to immerse themselves in the history and future of aviation.
The Airwalker
The Airwalker will provide whirling and twirling moves for guests seeking an adrenaline rush in airborne acrobatics. With the signage and billboard installed, this attraction is quickly coming to life. More theming was introduced to this area inspired by Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, with details including sand, beach-inspired fencing, and landscaping.
Air Racers
These speedsters of the skies await the opportunity to take guests on a journey through the Carolina sky, but they are not ready yet. A fence was installed behind the attraction, along with fencing in the queue area. The operating booths need to be finished, and ride signage has yet to be placed.
Gyro Force
Gyro Force has officially arrived at Carowinds. The ride pieces have been painted, and the base for the ride has been set in place. The sign and surrounding theming elements set the stage for the installation of this experimental aircraft engine attraction.
Gear Spin
Our red-hot propulsion engine seems to be steps away from welcoming riders. The queue line has been placed, complete with fencing and a shaded awning overhead. Additional theming elements are situated near the ride, along with the Gear Spin’s signage.
Hover and Dodge
This cosmic training ground was outfitted with theming elements fit for its futuristic hot rod hovercrafts. The ride sign has been installed, overlooking the attraction that will soon house aspiring hovercraft pilots from near and far.
Terminal A
Carowinds’ hangar continues to evolve to soon provide elevated brews and bites to hungry guests. Brick siding has been laid and the hangar has received a coat of paint. This stunning patio will soon boast a canopy overhead and other nods to the history of Carolina aviation.
Inside, wall paneling, flooring, and other final touches are being completed. The walls of Terminal A will showcase flight-related artifacts, including the jackets that have already been installed.
Aeronautica Landing Game Zone
New pilots will soon understand how gravity and physics affect flight motion in the Aeronautica Landing Game Zone. The Air Shot game has been situated, residing next to the area best known for its “Sky High Challenges.” Soon, there will be more games available for guests to improve their accuracy, test their acrobatic abilities, and level-up their understanding of aviation.
Throughout Aeronautica Landing, pavers and cement have been laid, setting the foundation for this destination in flight.
There is still work to be done before this area is cleared for takeoff. Guests can enjoy these immersive attractions when Aeronautica Landing opens on Friday, April 7. New for 2023, Silver Season Passes are available and include unlimited visits to Carowinds and Carolina Harbor Waterpark through the summer, fall daytime visits, and free parking.
