February Construction Update for Aeronautica Landing at Carowinds
Carowinds is wheels-up for Aeronautica Landing as construction continues in the former Crossroads-area. The new themed area, inspired by the spirit of adventure and innovation that made history in the Carolinas, will offer five new attractions and one rethemed attraction.
Air Walker
Air Walker is one step closer to soaring over the dunes of Kitty Hawk after installation. Boasting a complete lighting package and a thematic ride car, guests will be able to discover the adrenaline rush of airborne acrobatics that Air Walker offers.
Air Racer
The structure that houses the Air Racer sign and marks the entrance to the queue line has been placed. Additional theming elements have been installed, including propellers on the ride and cones in the surrounding areas. With the fence installed, the only items left to complete are the operating booth and the queue line.
Gyro Force
Though Gyro Force has yet to be installed, its concrete pad and fencing eagerly await the arrival of this futuristic thrill machine.
Gear Spin
Gear Spin sports new theming elements on the sides and the top of the ride, as well as new fencing. The operating booth has received a coat of paint, but still has work to be done before riders can experience the feeling of being thrust through the atmosphere in an aircraft.
Hover and Dodge
This home to aspiring hovercraft pilots has no shortage of theming in place, complete with the base for the ride sign, a windsock, and pressure gauge detailing. The roof and siding have been replaced, creating a clean slate for this futuristic training center. When the hot-rods-turned-hovercraft cars arrive, guests will be in for a high-larious ride.
Terminal A
Concrete has been poured for the outdoor patio and stairs at Terminal A. Windows and doors have been installed in Terminal A, preparing the soon-to-be restaurant for indoor work. Outside, the support beams for the shade structure and the Terminal A sign have been placed.
Across the entire Aeronautica Landing-area, gravel has been laid in preparation for the pouring of pavement. Near the center of the area, a shade structure is taking shape.
There is still much to be done before Aeronautica Landing is clear for takeoff. However, guests can see these updates come to life when Aeronautica Landing opens later this year.
New for 2023, Silver Season Passes are available and include unlimited visits to Carowinds and Carolina Harbor Waterpark through the summer, fall daytime visits, and free parking.
