Carowinds Welcomes International Students as Associates

Carowinds is a world-class amusement park, featuring over 60 rides, attractions, and live stage shows. To keep the fun going all season long, Carowinds hires thousands of seasonal associates each year, across various departments. While most associates are local to the Carolinas, a significant number come to the park for a new experience abroad.
Carowinds Partners with CIEE
Carowinds partners with the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), which is one of the leading sponsors for the U.S. Department of State J-1 visa program. CIEE supplies Carowinds, and students, with service, support and resources related to the Work & Travel USA program.
Through the program, Carowinds is able to hire students from around the world as seasonal park associates. Currently, there are 309 associates participating in the program at Carowinds, from a total of 21 countries.
Housing for International Students at Carowinds
In 2019, Carowinds opened its’ first dormitory to house both local and international students. In addition to well-appointed rooms, the on-site dorm includes access to the Carowinds recreation center. This amenity features kitchens, laundry facilities, televisions, pool tables and other games.
Discounted on-site dormitory housing is also available for regional associates. Individuals must be at least 18 years old and currently live at least 30 miles away from the park.
International Students Enjoy Perks of the Park
International students working at Carowinds, and all other park associates, enjoy free admission to all Cedar Fair parks, discounts on merchandise, discounts on food and exclusive associate-only events. Associates also receive complimentary tickets for family and friends.
Carowinds Celebrates the World During Grand Carnivale
Guests can experience Grand Carnivale, the Carolinas’ must-see international festival, now through Sunday, July 10. The larger-than-life global celebration features high-energy live entertainment, pulsing rhythms and delicious international cuisine.
Guests are also treated to the extravagant sights and sounds of the Spectacle of Color Parade, each night, beginning at 8:30 PM. The glittering, spectacular displays journeys through the park from County Fair to the Plaza Stage, inspiring guests to get on their feet and join the party
