Your New Year's Eve Guide

The holiday fun doesn't end after Christmas at Carowinds. We've got the best family-friendly New Year's Eve celebration in the Carolinas right here. Enjoy all the magical fun of WinterFest plus an amazing New Year's Eve party. Here's your guide to the night.

Holiday Parade at Carowinds on New Year's Eve

Start the Night Off Right With WinterFest and the Wonderland Parade

If you've already been to WinterFest this year, you know it's holiday magic for people of all ages. Millions of twinkling lights, the aroma of gingerbread cookies in the air, live entertainment throughout the park, Midway Merriment characters greeting you at every turn - it all puts you right in the spirit of the season. We open at 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve, so plan to spend some time enjoying WinterFest before the New year's Eve party starts after the parade. Which, by the way, is a can't-miss spectacular. The WinterFest Wonderland Parade will start at 7:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve. The best places to see it are in the County Fair area, Tinsel Town and Celebration Plaza. Grab a loaf of cinnamon pull-apart bread to share and enjoy this dazzling addition to WinterFest.

Catch WinterFest Live Shows Early

Your last chance to see our signature WinterFest 2019 shows ends early in the evening to make way for the New Year's Eve party. Here's the WinterFest show lineup for the night:

Tree Lighting at Plaza Stage: 5:30 p.m.

Charlie Brown's Christmas Spectacular at Carowinds Theater: 5:30 p.m.

Tinker's Toy Factory: The Christmas Feaver at Camp Theatre: 5:30 p.m.

Cool Yule at Plaza Stage: 6:00 p.m.

Don't worry if you miss these, though. We'll have other live entertainment throughout the park, and three live party bands will start up beginning at 8:30 to keep the party going until 1 a.m.

Count Down to "Midnight" for Children

Do you have little ones who are eager for some New Year's Eve excitement but can't quite make it to midnight? We got you. Head to the Camp Theatre for the PEANUTS Dance Party, where they'll count down to the New Year at 9, 10 and 11 p.m. as well as midnight. You can get all the parent points for New Year's Eve and still be home, snug and warm, before 2020 arrives.

Smile! You May Be on TV

Our broadcast partner, NBC Charlotte (WCNC), will be here all evening long broadcasting live from the park. You may even get to meet the ever-cheerful Larry Sprinkle, Emmy-winning evening anchor Sarah French or weather geek (and twitter champ) Brad Panovich.

Wear Your Dancing Shoes and Stay for the Fireworks

Three live party bands will take the stage at 8:30 and 9:00 to get the New Year's Eve party started. Whether you enjoy contemporary country, Indie pop rock or classic party hits we've got a band for you. And there will be two DJs in the park to keep those beats thumping anywhere you roam. If bubbly's your thing, visit one of our champagne stations as you rock the night away on the state line.

As midnight approaches we'll hand out free party hats and horns and the energy will surely go up another level as anticipation climbs. Our Carolina Skytower will be decked out for a splashy digital countdown at the stroke of midnight and then the night sky will light up with an AMAZING fireworks show to kick off 2020.

Stay Steps Away From the Fun

The beautiful SpringHIll Suites by Marriott Charlotte at Carowinds, the park's first onsite hotel, is now open! Treat yourself to a comfy place to rest your weary head after the party ends that's just short walk away. We've got the perfect New Year's Eve package available to make the decision even easier.

I wasn't a big New Year's Eve fan in the past, but New Year's Eve at WinterFest has changed that. Now it's one of my favorite nights of the year. Don't be surprised if it becomes one of your favorites, too.
