'Tis the season for romance! If cuddling up by the fire and watching your favorite Christmas movie sounds like your typical holiday date, it's time to change things up. When the holiday season rolls into the Carolinas, our park comes alive and magically transforms into a winter wonderland, waiting for you and your loved one to explore.

WinterFest is full of romantic things for you and your significant other to do at the holidays. Here are our recommendations on how to have the perfect date night:

Take in the lights

Five million shimmering lights bring the park to life with holiday spirit. Stroll through the midways to take in the sights and magic of the season. Don’t forget to stop by Celebration Plaza at 5:30 p.m. for the nightly Tree Lighting Celebration to kick off your date! Jingle Bell Boardwalk dazzles guests with millions of brilliant lights that dance to festive holiday music.

Go ice skating

No matter your skill level, this holiday past time is a must-do. Snow Flake Lake, located beside Holiday Hall, is the perfect place to show off your ice skating skills. Besides, trusting your partner to catch you when you fall on the ice can be quite the bonding experience. *winks*

Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride

What’s more romantic than a horse-drawn carriage ride? Head on over to the North Pole and climb aboard one of our carriages. Then, snuggle up and enjoy the ride through the magical lights and sights of our North Pole Excursion.

Catch a show

WinterFest is complete with more a dozen live shows filled with festive singing and dancing. So take a second to stop and enjoy our world-class entertainment as your stroll through our winter wonderland, you won't regret it.

The Mistletones perform classic Christmas tunes reminiscent of the 1950s in Tinsel Town.

The Holly Jolly Trolley makes its stop in front of Holiday Hall, where it’s talented performers bring the holidays alive with song and dance.

Warm up around the fire on the Holiday Hall patio while enjoying the downhome style of Christmas Bluegrass.

Share a treat

No trip to Carowinds is complete without a sweet treat, especially during WinterFest! Share a delectable holiday dessert such as the Gingerbread funnel cake topped with eggnog icing, or our cinnamon pull apart bread.

Keep warm with hot chocolate stations throughout the park. Or, go all out and share our gourmet hot chocolate – 20 oz. of chocolatey goodness topped with a doughnut, Nutella, whipped cream and sprinkles.

Can’t get enough hot chocolate? Purchase a WinterFest souvenir mug and get FREE refills all night and $1 refills when you visit again this season.

Shop for gifts

Holiday gift shopping is always more fun with your significant other by your side. WinterFest is filled with plenty of merchandise locations where you’re sure to find something for everyone on your list. Our North Pole Mercantile offers plenty of souvenirs for the thrill-seeker in the family, and Tinsel Town Treasures is the perfect place to find nostalgic holiday gifts.

Take home a picture-perfect memory

Remember the night for years to come with a picture-perfect memory. Take pictures throughout the park with our midway merriment character with favorites such as Ebenezer Scrooge, Jack Frost, and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Stop by St. Nick's Pics to capture a photo with Santa Claus himself!
