Fall is just around the corner, which means it’s almost time for SCarowinds! The Carolinas largest Halloween event kicks off on Saturday, September 15. To get you and your friends geared up for a season of fear, we’ve conjured up the top five things you need to know before exploring our “scream” park in 2017.

1) New SCarowinds Maze: Depths of Darkness

When it comes to building authentic houses of horror, our team of fright-builders has really been on a roll lately, and this year they may have out done themselves. With a unique concept and several new elements, Depths of Darkness is sure to deliver some serious screams this season.

Located near Intimidator inside the former home of Defex, you’ll journey deep into the dark mind of the infamous State Line Slasher where evil will consume your every step as you uncover the sick secrets that lie in wait. Hope you’re not afraid of the dark.

2) Scare Zones and New Locations

Due to new park projects, many most of our scare zones have been moved this season. Fret not! The new locations will surely pack the suspense of the unfamiliar, not to mention, the new settings are a perfect fit.

  • Psycho Circus - The new County Fair
  • Scary Tales - The SCarolina Boardwalk
  • Mass Acres - Celebration Plaza
  • Bloodyard - Thrill Zone
  • The Playground - Crossroads (near Plants vs. Zombies 3Z Arena)

3) New Skeleton Keys

If you're looking for the ultimate SCarowinds experience, consider adding a Fright Lane Pass with a Skeleton Key to your admission.

Fright Lane Pass - allows you to skip the normal wait for our mazes and can be used once per maze.

Skeleton Key – gives you exclusive access to scare rooms and intimate interactions inside all six scare zones.

This year we've added a new Skeleton Key room inside Scary Tales. I won't go into much detail, but for some of you, it will be leaving a bad taste in your mouth. With spiritual readings in Mass Acres, captured vampires in Bloodyard and a total of six Skeleton Key experiences, it's the biggest scream for your buck.

Fright Lane and Skeleton Key attractions are marked with a glowing red spider. There are a limited amount sold each night, so buy early.

4) Shows

There are over 16 haunted attractions at SCarowinds, including three live shows. These fan-favorite performances include death-defying stunts from the Skeleton Crew, booming beats from Blood Drums and the resurrection of 80's rock from RocktoberFest. And don't forget our opening ceremony where we start the night of fright with a big BANG...and this year, we'll even re-introduce an old friend of SCarowinds.

Skeleton Crew will now perform in Celebration Plaza, and Blood Drums will be performing on an elevated stage in the Thrill Zone. Download the free Carowinds app for show times during your visit.

5) SCarowinds Tickets

SCarowinds tickets are now on sale for as low as $29.99. Keep in mind that price on admission changes depending on the day you visit, and as always, the best place to find the cheapest Carowinds tickets is a Browse the site and find the right ticket package for your visit, or visit every night with a SCarowinds Season Pass for just $59.99.

Current 2017 Season Passholders can enjoy exclusive Bring-A-Friend Discounts during SCarowinds, allowing them to bring up to six friends for as low as $29 each. Facing your fears is always easier with friends, so click here for dates and pricing.
