We had another AMAZING year here at Carowinds. From launching Copperhead Strike and Blue Ridge Junction to the wondrous magic of the all-new WinterFest Wonderland Parade, there was FUN to be had by all.

As we approach the beginning of our 2020 season Opening Day on March 21st, let’s rewind to take our annual look at the most popular rides and attractions from 2019.

5. Hurler – Over 500,000 Rides

PARTY TIME! EXCELLENT! Hurler remains in the top five. This classic wooden coaster had its 25th anniversary in 2019 and is located in the Thrill Zone section of the park. It has a top speed of 50 MPH and is 3,157 feet long.

4. Afterburn – Over 875,000 Rides

Even after celebrating 20 years of flight this past summer, this jet coaster continues to thrill guests. It is filled with non-stop action including six inversions and a top speed of 62 MPH. Afterburn is a fan favorite and must-ride attraction. You can be our wingman anytime.

3. Copperhead Strike – Over 880,000 Rides

Our newest jam has entered the top five y’all! Copperhead Strike double launches into the 3rd spot on our list. Carowinds’ latest roller coaster sets you on an immersive adventure through Granny’s farm. Your getaway car features TWO launches. The first sends you from 0 to 42 MPH in 2.5 seconds and the second will have you speeding from 0 to 35 MPH in 2 seconds. It was also voted by USA Today as one of the top five BEST new amusement attractions in 2019.

2. Intimidator – Over 1.16 Million Rides

Ladies and gentlemen! Continue to start your engines. Intimidator will have its 10th birthday in 2020. It is one of the tallest steel roller coasters in North America and is inspired by NASCAR legend and North Carolina native Dale Earnhardt.

1. Fury 325 – Over 1.24 Million Rides

Five years later and everyone is still feeling the sting. The world’s tallest and fastest Giga coaster was voted Best Steel Coaster by the Golden Ticket Awards for the FOURTH year in a row! Fury 325 is a thrill machine that takes guests on a high-speed 3.4-minute journey reaching 95 MPH through 1.25 miles of track. Ride for yourself and see what the buzz is all about.

Honorable Mention:  Flying Ace Balloon Race – Over 440,000 Rides

The Flying Ace Kiddie Ride at Carowinds Celebrated 440,000 Rides!

This family-friendly ride has soared into the top spot of the most popular non-coaster ride of 2019. On Flying Ace Balloon Race, you’ll spin across the sky on a high-flying hot air balloon adventure inspired by Snoopy’s Flying Ace alter ego.

We can't wait to open as our vision of AMAZING becomes reality in 2020! There will always be something FUN to experience at Carowinds this year, no matter the season. The best way to see it all is with a 2020 Gold Pass. Get unlimited visits, FREE parking, early access to your favorite rides and much more.
