In the winter of 2010, siblings Ryan, Kenzie and DJ entered foster care. As is often the case, the children were separated and Ryan wound up in Ohio while Kenzie and DJ stayed together in Myrtle Beach, SC. All were later adopted, but with Ryan 500 miles away and his status unknown, years passed without any contact. A few years ago, Kenzie and DJ began asking about finding Ryan and Dana McCallum, their adoptive mom, decided it was time for a focused search.
Armed with just a few details, she took to Facebook. One day she clicked on Ryan’s profile. “I knew he was their brother right away," she explained. "He looked just like DJ.”

"Little did we know, Ryan was also asking about his brother and sister," McCallum said. Shortly after she made the connection, she and Ryan's adoptive dad, Ron, began planning a Carowinds vacation. McCallum said it’s a family favorite and the perfect setting for a fun reunion.

Both families arrived at Camp Wilderness last Monday, and spent the entire week riding rides, eating funnel cakes and getting to know one another. It was Ryan’s first trip to a theme park and his siblings brought him straight to Fury 325 for his roller coaster initiation.

McCallum described the vacation as bonding the two families into one. “We plan on making this a yearly thing,” she said, adding that seeing the children all together was worth its weight in gold.
WBTV recently covered their story and posted the video of the moment of their reunion.
