Now that the calendar has flipped to October, that means one thing - Halloween. I’ve visited SCarowinds the last two years, and it can be pretty terrifying. Luckily, Carowinds offers a daytime Halloween event that is perfect for families and younger children called The Great Pumpkin Fest, which takes place Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 29 in Camp Snoopy.

But what makes The Great Pumpkin Fest so special for families? Here are the top five things to experience at Carowinds during the Great Pumpkin Fest!

Awesome Autumn Attractions

At The Great Pumpkin Fest, there are several attractions in Camp Snoopy that you don’t get the chance to experience at any other time during the year. Younger guests can transform into a soapy ghost at Pig Pen’s Foam Zone or try to make their way through the straw of Peppermint Patty’s Hay Bale Maze.

Outside of Camp Snoopy, be sure to check out the Petting Zoo in Crossroads, next to Dodgems, where an entire barnyard of animals is waiting to meet you!

Tricks & Treats

You no longer need to wait until Halloween night to put on your costume and do some trick-or-treating! There are several trick-or-treating stops all around Carowinds for younger guests to stop in for a Halloween surprise.

To add to the costumed fun, there are two costume parades each Saturday and Sunday that begin in front of Harmony Hall, as well as a Costume Contest! And be on the lookout to take photos with the Peanuts Characters, who are celebrating Halloween with their costumes as well!

Not-So-Spooky Shows

Need to rest your feet after all of that trick-or-treating and parade marching? Head to the Peanuts Showplace for several special Halloween-themed shows that only take place during The Great Pumpkin Fest.

From PEANUTS Dance Party to Fraidy Cat’s Puppet Show to the new Monster’s Lip Sync Madness, there’s sure to be a show for you!

Fall Foods

All around Carowinds, there are special fall menu options for guests who want a taste of autumn. Be on the lookout for special Apple Cinnamon and Oreo funnel cakes, as well as a Pumpkin Spice flavored Pretzel at Auntie Anne’s.

My personal favorite Halloween food at Carowinds is the Haunt Finger Sandwich at Harmony Hall, which combines Chicken Fingers, Mozzarella Sticks and French Fries into one amazing sandwich.

And of course, for those fueled by coffee, Carowinds’ in-park Starbucks has the traditional fall favorite, the Pumpkin Spice Latte.

"Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see." – Linus Van Pelt

What’s Halloween without a Pumpkin? Carowinds is giving guests ages 12 and under the chance to take home a pumpkin of their very own in Linus’ Great Pumpkin Patch. Best of all? It’s included with Carowinds admission!
