Carowinds has an immediate opening for the position of Systems Engineer in Charlotte, NC. This full-time position will report to the IT Manager.

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a wide range of highly technical and project management duties associated with the support of company networks and systems. This is a highly technical and professional position. It is distinguished by the requirement to demonstrate expertise in project management, network design, implementation, security, maintenance, support and overall knowledge of Client/Server, network, hardware, database and software integration.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, layer 2 & layer 3 devices, firewalls, load balancers, etc..
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5-7 years related experience.
  • Must be able to design, build, troubleshoot: Storage Area Networks, Servers, Networks, Firewalls, Routers, Wireless devices and end users devices.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Technologies; Active Directory, Server, Desktop, Exchange and SQL. Must be able to maintain and troubleshoot.
  • Must be able to design, implement backup and recovery technologies. Has to be able to formulate strategies, plans and testing for recovery and continuity of all business systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs installation and maintenance of all network servers, supervises the installation, configuration and maintenance on all desktop, laptop and notebook computers. Implements in accordance with the best practice, high availability, reliability, performance and accepted security standards. Ensures all patches, firmware and regular preventive maintenance is performed routinely. Configures and defines parameters for installation or testing of local area network (LAN), wide are network (WAN), switches, routers, firewalls, servers, SANs, virtualization technology, D2D backup, load balancers or related network equipment. Documents and keeps technical documentation current.
  • Directs multifunctional teams, vendors and end users in large complex projects. Handles and manages multiple projects and tasks. Collaborates with engineers, system administrators, software developers, users and management to select appropriate design solutions or to ensure the compatibility of system components.
  • Sets standards for security, backups of network, server, and related devices. Develops, changes and modifies procedures regarding configuration of all vital computing equipment. Performs audits to ensure optimal performance, reliability and secure environment. Has primary responsibility to ensure all systems, all data types, software, hardware and configurations and documentation are backed up properly. Provides and create documented backup and restore procedures. Runs regular tests and reviews results with Director quarterly.
  •  Provides project costs, design concepts or changes. Evaluates current or emerging technologies. Makes recommendations and implements solutions. Use independent judgment and recommend solutions based on factors involving cost, complexity and time.
  • Maintains AD for efficiency and security. Changes safeguards and audits DNS, DHCP and other vital network services. Enforces, monitors and remedies security to meet PCI/DSS, Privacy and HIPPA requirements. Uses and sets standards for secure protocols like SSH, HTTP and SSL not allowing clear test protocols like FTP, http, telnet, etc. Responds promptly to disruption of service, communicating effectively to users, vendors, management and team members. Maintains, plans, tests and or executes disaster recover procedures for all systems, servers, applications, LAN/WAN hardware. Coordinates and leads teams and vendors in this effort.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in technical areas, monitors available hardware and software products from outside vendors and makes recommendations to management personnel in the use of such products. Refers to hardware and software manuals, policy and procedure manuals, product catalogs, system manuals, specifications, trade journals, architectural drawings, computer documentation, etc.

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining and performing electrical repairs of park rides, ensuring efficient and safe operations at all times according to Carowinds standards. Assists in ride mechanical maintenance as required. Performs technical duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years related experience in industrial electrical maintenance work, or a school equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Themed amusement park experience a plus.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Driver’s license required.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory or random drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state or provincial law.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, rebuilds and inspects ride electrical systems and components for proper operation according to Carowinds standards. Assists in troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspects and evaluates rides for proper function, detects and investigates any malfunctions or irregularities and notifies supervisor of any safety concerns. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs malfunctions using electrical schematic charts, computers, programmable logic controllers, test equipment and meters. Responsible for completing required documentation on check-outs, preventive maintenance, updates/changes, etc.
  • Receives and reviews various records and reports including ride manuals and updates, ride electrical programs and diagrams, technical manuals, computer manuals, operating schedules, check-out sheets, work orders, vehicle maintenance check sheets, operational downtime sheets, material safety data sheets, etc.
  • Ensures rides are maintained according to manufacturers, Carowinds and Department of Labor guidelines to ensure the safety of ride operation and guests.
  • Assists with various other maintenance duties as required including landscaping, welding, carpentry, plumbing, construction, pest and animal control.
  • Assists emergency personnel in emergency evacuation procedures, providing training to the staff, ride operators and technicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Installs (placement, position, connect, inspect, test) all plumbing equipment, including cutting pipes, digging trenches, hanging fixtures, testing braces and soldering according to manufacturer’s and Carowinds standards. Repairs and maintains all plumbing equipment, including inspecting and evaluating for proper function, cracks and erosion, according to local code and Carowinds standards.
  • Maintains underground water lines, storm drains and sewers, including unclogging and keeping proper flow.
  • Maintains all water rides and keeps water quality at local codes, including testing water and adding chemicals.
  • Performs preventative maintenance (planned internal inspections) on water rides and plumbing installations as needed. Performs check-outs on plumbing equipment per manufacturer and Carowinds standard. Documents preventative maintenance and check-outs as file record. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs malfunctions using schematics and test equipment. Maintains lubrication schedules (grease and oil).
  • Responds to trouble calls in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assists in parts ordering, maintains inventory and monitors to ensure operation remains within budget guidelines.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in field of expertise. Makes recommendations based on new developments and trends.
  • Assists with various other maintenance work as required including landscaping, welding, carpentry, HVAC, construction, pest and animal control.

  • Maintains proper inventory to ensure supply of necessary parts and equipment is available. Follows proper storage requirements of equipment and supplies.
  • Responds to calls in a timely and accurate manner. Documents preventative maintenance, repairs and installations and check outs of file records. Follows established accounting procedures for documenting expenses.

JOB SUMMARY:

Designs, installs, oversees and constructs park signage and banners with the use of computer sign package and hand painting. Works closely with the Production and Design corporate department to coordinate signage for new projects and retrofits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years related experience in graphic services and signage or technical school equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Themed amusement park experience is a plus.
  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Ability to pass a mandatory or random drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state or provincial law.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Composes banners, poster and signs using computer software. Operates the plotter to cut out vinyl images aligning and changing rolls and performing preventive maintenance. Applies computer generated vinyl letters and graphics to a variety of prepared sign materials, carefully aligning and centering. Operates lamination machine to enclose signs and posters.
  • Review work of subordinates for effectiveness, evaluate and make recommendations as appropriate, offer advice and assistance as needed. Train new seasonal associates and assist with production. Ensures team members compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations and standards of quality and safety.
  • Produces signage from scale drawings, blue prints and sign requests. Hand paints new and repainted park signage. Repairs and maintains existing signs by hand painting and/or clear coating. Works with departments to update vinyl/magnetic strips. Communicates with departments and vendors in the construction of signs and banners.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory of sign materials available for maintenance and construction. Assists with the installation and removal of signs and banners throughout the park. Prepares cost analyses of assigned projects and forecasts accurate project completion dates.
  • Receives and reviews various records and reports including maintenance records, charts, logs, etc. Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in the field of expertise.
