Although our record-breaking coasters and thrills rides are often the first thing people think of, here at Carowinds we offer a well-rounded experience complete with world-class live entertainment. One of our new shows, Turn It Up, debuts on June 9, and our entertainment team as well as the cast and crew are working hard to put the final touches on their performance before showtime. Here's your behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making a show here on the state line:
Director Chuck Davis, of D&G Entertainment, wants guests to have an amazing experience as they leave the park in the evenings. He wants guests to walk back to their cars truly awestruck by the show they just enjoyed. Appropriately named, Turn It Up is a high-energy show featuring favorite music and dancing from the 80s to today that will keep guests coming back for more.
The Making of a Show
The cast of Turn It Up has spent countless hours rehearsing to perfect every aspect of the show for their quickly-approaching opening night. Choreographer Jackie O’Toole has worked hard to help create a show that will appeal to a wide variety of guests. She’s excited to see just how the cast’s amazing moves and tricks captivate audiences of all ages.

Davis says, “We wanted this show to just explode off the stage, and we feel like it’s going to. The 14 performers that are on the stage are just so talented.”
In order to create an action-packed, high-energy performance that brings guests back, no aspect of production has gone overlooked. Our costuming team has paid close attention to the details of each and every cast member’s costume to be sure it’s perfect for opening night. Each costume is unique, while they all combine for an unforgettable effect on stage. Covered in sequins, glitter and everything sparkly, the costumes are sure to help the cast members TURN IT UP!
Turn It Up performances run June 9 – August 26 on the plaza stage, and showtimes are as follows:
