It's officially the holiday season in the Carolinas! It's no secret that one of the most popular family holiday activities is decorating. Here at Carowinds, we have a team of expert decorators who magically transform the park into a winter wonderland just in time for WinterFest. They're giving you a look at some of their favorite decorating tips and tricks so your home can be just as festive as WinterFest!

How to make the perfect bow...

Holiday decorating just isn't complete without festive bows. These versatile crafts can be placed on wreaths, in garland or on gifts. Here are the six steps to create the PERFECT holiday bow.

Step 1

Select your favorite holiday ribbon. Pull enough ribbon that the "tail" of your bow will be as long as you please, then fold it over to make the first loop. Pinch the middle.

Step 2

Turn the bottom piece over, so that the inside of the ribbon is facing the same direction as your first loop. Make your second loop.

Step 3

Repeat step one and two. Make as many loops as you would like, depending on how large you would like your bow to be. Monica's bow has six loops.

Step 4

Cut the ribbon to create the second "tail."

Pro Tip: Use a good pair of scissors that are not used for anything other than fabric.

This will keeps your cuts clean and ribbon crisp.

Step 5

Use a piece of floral wire, found at most craft stores, to secure the middle of the bow. Wrap the wire around the bow and twist the ends. Then, wrap the wire back in the opposite direction and twist the ends again. Repeat this step, alternating directions until the bow feels secure. Use wire cutters to cut the wire, and then bend it back.
