The Carolina Bird Dog

A day of conquering some of the biggest coasters around sure can work up an appetite. Luckily, Carowinds has plenty of dining locations featuring delicious Carolina fare. This season, we're introducing a true local favorite: the Carolina Bird Dog. This sandwich gives a southern twist to a traditional hot dog making picnics more interesting.

While you can always pick a bird dog at the park, here's how to make one of your own:

Step One:

Start off with your favorite type of hot dog bun. We use a fresh footlong bun to be sure our Bird Dogs are the largest and best of all.

Pro Tip: Toast the hot dog bun to make your Bird Dog extra crispy.

Step Two:

Make your own chicken tenders using your favorite recipe or buy some already prepared and place them inside the bun. Every morning we make our chicken tenders from scratch, hand-breading them with the perfect selection of herbs and spices.

Step Three:

Pick your favorite honey mustard and pour it over the chicken tenders.

Step Four:

Sprinkle shredded cheese over the tenders and melt. At Carowinds, we do all the work for you by drizzling our Bird Dog with our very own warm cheese sauce.

Step Five:

Sprinkle crispy sizzling bacon bits on the top of the sandwich.

Enjoy!

Now enjoy one of South Carolina's favorite sandwiches! After the first bite, you'll definitely want to make yourself a Carolina Bird Dog again and again.
