Five Things to Know Before Opening Day

Welcome back to AirTime, the official blog of Carowinds. The new County Fair is getting closer to its debut, and the four new rides are almost ready to go. In addition to our new attractions, we've been busy adding new enhancements for our guests. To get everyone ready for the new season, here are five things you need to know before Opening Day, which is March 25.

1) New Website

The most obvious update of them all, we've launched a new, mobile-friendly website. The responsive design makes it easier for guests to find what they're looking for, and it does a better job showing off all the wonderful things we have to offer. Best of all, it is still the best place to buy Carowinds tickets at the lowest price.

Go ahead and bookmark the new website!

2) New Dining Locations

Park enhancements continue, and you'll notice a few new dining locations on the Carowinds park map. For starters, Panda Express has a new look and location. The popular Chinese food restaurant has moved across the midway to Joe Cool Cafe. Its contemporary design will reduce wait time and add more outdoor guest seating. For our value-hunters, Panda Express and Chik-Fil-A are still featured locations for our dining plans.

Located across from Starbucks, Carowinds Cafe is now Burrito Cafe. The menu will start with three options - a burrito, a taco salad or a burrito bowl. Much like other popular burrito restaurants, guests choose their ingredients and are served with a side of chips and salsa. This location is sure to be a popular addition to our dining plans.

And you can't introduce a new County Fair without some traditional County Fair foods. Surfer Joe's has been renamed County Fair Funnel Cakes, and Fry Shack has been renamed Fair Fries. County Fair Funnel Cakes will feature...funnel cakes, but with a County Fair twist with new toppings and flavors. Fair Fries will feature...fries, but also traditional County Fair staples like corn dogs, fried corn, hot dogs and more!

3) All-Season Drink Refills

Season Passholders rejoice! New for 2017, All-Season Drink Refills now give you the option to go bottle free. When purchased, this option will be added to your Season Pass and grants you free refills at any location throughout the park. Just present your Season Pass, and watch your cup fill up with the refreshing Coca-Cola beverage of your choice.

#ProTip: Add your 2017 Season Pass to the Carowinds mobile app and have all your information and perks in one accessible location.

4) New Game Card

We've made it easier to play your favorite games at Carowinds with our new Game Card. Stop at any of our new kiosk locations to load your card with your desire balance. Next time you want to stop and test your skill at one of our games - just scan your card. It's that easy.

5) Five New Shows

Carowinds has a long history of entertaining the Carolinas, and this year we're continuing the tradition by adding six new shows. From music to comedy, there's something for everyone to enjoy, and as always - live entertainment is included in admission.

  • Decades Live - Featuring disco funk from the 70's, the hits of the 80's, rock from the 90's and the best country music through today - Decades LIVE will play all your favorites. Since each performance highlights a different decade, you'll want to catch this show more than once.
  • New Roots Bluegrass - Performing in the new Crossroads Gazebo in front of Boo Blasters, this four-piece band will perform long-time favorites in the styling of Carolina bluegrass.
  • Carolina Beach Bash - Cut loose and have a little fun in the sun at Carolina Harbor's beach party at Surf Club Harbor. Enjoy high-energy beach music and learn the offical dance of the Carolina coast, the shag.
  • Catawba Creek Duo - Performing on the Harmony Hall outdoor patio, kick back as the Catawba Creek Duo performs a wide array of relaxing music for all to enjoy.
  • Charlie Brown's Hoedown - The young and young-at-heart will love our new PEANUTS show! Sing-along as Charlie Brown spends a fun-filled day on the farm with his friends in the PEANUTS Showplace.

We've also released our 2017 events schedule, which is now available for your summer planning.

Now you're all caught up, start planning your trip to Carowinds. We open on March 25 for another year of family fun at the place where the Carolinas come together. Click on the tickets tab and get the lowest price on Carowinds tickets.
